Towns in Harding County

Buffalo, SD

Buffalo, the county seat of Harding County, is located in the center of the county at the intersection of Highway 85 and Highway 20. At about 500 people, Buffalo is the largest town in the county. It has the only high school and most of the businesses for people in the surrounding area. Each year Buffalo hosts the Northwest Regional High School Rodeo the first weekend in June, the Buffalo 4-H Rodeo in July, and the Annual Labor Day Celebration, which is of course another rodeo and parade.


Camp Crook, SD

Camp Crook, population about 50, is the second largest metropolitan area of Harding County. It has a K-8 school, a post office, and the Corner Bar & Cafe, which is famous for its Prime Rib. Camp Crook has the distinction of hosting the Harding County Fair & Rodeo each year in August.


Reva, SD

Reva is one of the biggest little towns in South Dakota. For only having a population of 2 or 3 people, it is a surprisingly big and busy town. Reva has several houses, a feed warehouse, a dance hall, a K-8 school, and most importantly a general store and post office. The Reva Store is the social center for locals who might stop in once or more a day just to see what's going on or to see if there is anybody around who wants to play a game of cribbage. Reva is also home of the World Famous Reva Turtle Races.


Ludlow, SD

Ludlow is home to the Crooked Creek #1 restaurant and bar. Ludlow hosts an annual Lamb Barbeque the second weekend in August. It also has a rural school with grades K-8th, a Ludlow Hall and a Volunteer Fire Dept. Population 7.


Ralph, SD

Ralph has a post office and Lutheran Church.


Redig, SD

Redig has a post office of which Edgar Kumley is the Postmaster and this next year will have served for 60 yrs in the same location.  Population 2.
